I came, I saw, I caught a cold!

Sorry, long time no post. I’ve been busy. Just got back from a conference in Montreal this weekend (yes, went with purple hair and all). I’ll have some tasty poutine pictures coming soon. But alas, now I am sick. And tired. And sick. So you will have to all be left in suspense for a little while longer. I thought there was something else… Oh! Yeah, and the archives are not working again!! Stupid WordPress. Curse you!!!!

Okay, that’s all for now. Over and out.

Coming soon to a blog near you:

Who doesn’t want to hear my exciting review of APCCGNN?

Euro-weirdness and rattie cuteness

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

So, I started a post a few days ago, but safari crashed, the post was lost, and I was in no mood to rewrite it. That is my excuse for the updatelessness, and I’m sticking to it. Besides, I didn’t really have much to say. Just a little making fun of the Europeans for their absolutely insane Eurovision competition. Think American Idol, but with countries voting against each other and displaying some of the weirdest ideas of what constitutes entertainment ever. Go check out Kim’s post at francophoney.net to see what I mean.

If you still crave more Eurovision weirdness after that, I’ve listed a few highlights below that you might want to check out. See what happened when Belarus tried to cross Owen Wilson with David Copperfield! Or glimpse the Swedes’ attempt to revive 80’s glam rock (’cause you can never get too much Wham!-inspired music in this world?). And if you always wondered what would happen if Disney songwriters decided to write a techno tune about vampires, I suggest you check out this entry from the Swiss.

In other news, Celia and I went to a rat show today! That’s right, like a dog show, but with cute, curious, adorable, twitchy-whiskered little rats!!! And no, I did not come home with any new pets. Not that I actually displayed willpower of any sort, they just didn’t do adoptions at this show. :-( Anyway, it wasn’t super-exciting, but it was still really interesting to see how the rats were judged, and just to get a sense of how many different, beautiful varieties of rats there are out there. Yay for rats!!!

So here’s a random rat video. The little spaz rat who starts bouncing all over the place about halfway through the video is especially cute.

My little nerdy heart is going pitter-patter.

No more classes, no more books

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Whew! I taught my last class on Tuesday and boy, is that a relief!!! I do actually enjoy teaching, and I had a really great, really motivated class, which was super helpful. But, being the lazy bum that I am, I did not enjoy prepping every week. And being the vain and/or conscientious person that I am, I did not enjoy prepping and then going to class and feeling like I still didn’t know half of what I ought to have known. Ah well, I guess I’ll see how badly I did when the course evals come out.

Until then I am finally free to do really important things like try to finish Zelda and watching copious amounts of Bleach. Speaking of Bleach, kill some time why dontcha with the Bleach quiz?
