Watching a silly horror movie with friends provides no excuse for STUPIDLY neglecting your poor, defenseless baby rat :-(

Spreading some minor holiday cheer

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

I am a bit behind on spreading the holiday cheer this year. On the one hand, I’ve already been home and back, so Christmas feels pretty much over for me. Howver, I still have some time left to make my annual rat holiday e-card and although I hadn’t really given much thought to it this year, I feel like it’s a tradition worth keeping up as long as I still have rats left. So if Alejandro has sufficently recovered from last night’s incident, tomorrow I will try to get him to make a few quick poses for me and send them out before the holidays are completely over. Until then, I want to leave my fair readers with something festive. Well, *I* think it’s festive, and better than listening to Barbara Streisand singing Christmas tunes. Warning: the video is completely uninteresting, just listen to the music in the background while you read other blogs or something ;-) Oh, and thanks to Celia for linking to Gillen for this one.

Everything sounds better in a minor key!

holiday excesses

Nothing like a traditional Christmas Dumpster Bonfire to really get you in the holiday spirit, wouldn’t you agree? There were actually considerable flames shooting up when I first looked out the window, but thankfully the firefighters were quite efficient and it was only a hugely smoking mass by the time I found my camera.

holiday excesses, part II

As though watching the dumpster fire be extinguished by local authorities wasn’t festive enough, me and the remaining Chicago stragglers went out this evening to see Black Christmas. I know, what says Christmas better than fire and watching sorority girls get butchered? Nothing! ;-D (Okay, okay–I’m honestly not that completely misanthropic. Mind you, I already had a Christmas celebration with my family last week). Anyhoo, a good time was had by all, but I have to say, if you’re jonesin’ to see an x-mas related horror flick, stick with the original 1974 Black Christmas and skip the eyeball-eating gore fest. Really, I don’t know what’s up with horror films these days (and I truly expected something a bit more clever from the former X-Files dream team of Glen Morgan [writer, director, producer] and James Wong [producer]), but it’s all about grossing the audience out rather than giving them something suspenseful. Sigh, whatever happened to the good old days, huh?

Holy sex crimes, Batman! 24 straight hours of SVU this New Year’s Eve. I’ve got my date :-)

Argh, I tried to find some decent SVU animated gifs but alas, it was not meant to be. Oh well, no visual aids for you!
