What better way to celebrate a birthday than with gratuitous meat consumption and pretty-colored explosions? None, I say. Really, despite the over-the-top patriotism involved, the 4th of July remains an enjoyable holiday to me. Just tune out the rhetoric and enjoy the show. So here’s to sparklers and apple pie!

And even though there isn’t much to celebrate in this country right now, what with Bush still in office and Sandra Day O’Connor stepping down from the Supreme Court, I still enjoy watching things burn in our nation’s honor.

Well, it’s not the first of the month, but ths bunny seemed worth posting anyway. Usually I get kinda bored will all those quirky personality survey things. And this one was so short that I thought for sure it would be crap. But I was wrong. I think this little fluffball fits me to a T! Thanks to the Yakinator for showing me the way.

you are the “you suck, and that’s sad” happy bunny. you’re truthful, but can be a bit brutal.

If you’re going to advertise an apartment for rent on a major rental listing website, then why the hell don’t you reply to the people who contact you? You put your listing up in the evening. I wrote you that night. I feel fairly certain that you didn’t rent the place already, so what exactly is your problem you mean buttmunch? Do you really want to rent the place, 0r not?

As usual, I haven’t been terribly productive. As you might have gathered from that last post, I’m apartment hunting, which always take more time and energy than it should. I have been working on the site, just in ways that you can’t really see yet. First of all, I’ve installed Bad Behavior to help stop all the comment spam. SPAMMERS ARE EVIL. I HATE YOU SPAMMERS!!!! So if you have trouble commenting, you should drop your humble master a line.
The second thing I’ve been working on is a little site redesign. Mostly, I want to organize the information on the site in a more useful way, especially as I’m thinking of adding new stuff. I need to think of a user-friendly way to organize that stuff. So if you know of any sites that you think have a particulary tight design or nice layout, send ‘em my way. Unfortunately, I got a bit distracted from my purpose and started toying with a new theme. You can see where the idea is going, but visually it’s just not all there yet. And I’m not really bored with what I have now, so I’m thinking this theme will stay for a while longer. I just need some virtual filing cabinets or something. Heh, I need real filing cabinets too, but that’s a horse of another color.

Well, I’m afraid Bad Behavior clearly isn’t going to work. At least, not by itself. I just got about 200 new comment spams since I installed (like, 3 days ago or something). So I guess I’ll be spending the next few days trying to download and configure more plugins to combat the evil that is spam. Really, I just don’t understand the beast. Does anyone actually make money by sending annoying spam to people? Is there anyone really stupid enough to say “Hey, I was just thinking how much I’d like some cheap Viagra. Why, I guess I’ll just click this here link!” I mean, at least telemarketers usually bully people into buying something they don’t want. But how the hell is spam an effective moneymaker? Why can’t it just go away and stop ruining all our lives?! :-( Bleh. Thank you spammers for ruining my day.

Today, your humble master’s folks get into town, so I imagine the site’s going to be pretty boring for the next week or so. I know, I’ve neglect the site for that long without good reason before, why offer excuses, now? Well, simply because I feel I should take advantage of having a legitimate excuse while I can. And, now that Celia and her husband have finally finished reading and re-reading HP6, I get to read it now (yeah, yeah, I could have just bought it myself, but what fun would that be?). So I’m trying to get through it fairly quickly before anyone gives anything away. I’ve already had a few close encounters. But as I discovered last night, I really don’t enjoy reading for hours on end. I always though I was just lazy about my academic reading, but it turns out that I just like to split things up and process smaller chunks at a time. So I think I’m going to go with my original plan and just take my time with it. So dont tell me what happens, people!!!!

We’ve all heard the Barnum quote “there’s a sucker born every minute.” I know this wasn’t quite what he meant, but I still think I’m one of them.
