The Great American-Canadian Road Trip: The Conclusion
July 21, 2008While the road trip could have been considered officially over once Dr. Tsou and I arrived in Vancouver, the vacation didn’t really end until today. Just twelve hours ago, I was squeeing like a little adolescent fanboy at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle. They don’t let you take pictures inside the museum, so there’s less to show than usual. But the museum was still highly entertaining and it made me realize that I’ve still got a long way to go before I can consider myself a true sci-fi fan. Too bad that catching up on my sci-fi isn’t going to be at the top of my priority list any time soon. Now that I’m back in Chicago, I’ve got plenty of academic work to catch up on. Speaking of which, I seem to have inadvertently convinced the 10 year old that I was sitting next to on the plane that she wants to read a book on the history of the electric chair called The Executioner’s Current. Um… whoops?!

Klaatu barada nikto.
Welcome Home!! And thanks for the awesome updates. It’s been fun to ride along with you. I hope you had as much fun as I did reading about it.
Now, about that Spam Musubi… :-)
(I just have to get through this martyr insanity, and I’m totally there. Our group’s running a little rough these days, but we’re in the home stretch… I think. But I thought that I was done, like, a week ago.)

Glad you enjoyed the trip! I’m all over getting us some Spam musubi. Hell, I think Spam’s going to be an important new addition to my diet–I’m a born again Spam advocate! If only your martyrs had eaten more Spam….

I firmly believe that Spam solves (and could solve) a lot of the world’s problems. But I’m pretty sure I read some translation somewhere prohibiting the SuperFunTime benefits of Spam by some NoFun martyr:
“Spam is eaten by the grandchildren of monkeys and pigs … but it’s so tasty … No. no. Wait. I mean, death to America.”
True story.

Okay so you called my bluff and sent me a coveted Spam postcard!!! I’ll frame and display it proudly so everyone can see it! I’ve never eaten Spam nor do I intend to eat it regardless of its varied flavors. I followed along as you posted your daily exploits of The Great American-Canadian Road Trip and I must say that I enjoyed my vicarious adventure. Thanks for the memories.
