Maybe JC's interpretation will reveal what "If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends" means. Personally I've never really been interested in taking on any "lovers" who have been "getting with" my friends-- but then, my moral compass isn't as finely calibrated as the Spice Girls', is it.
