Euro-weirdness and rattie cuteness
May 20, 2007So, I started a post a few days ago, but safari crashed, the post was lost, and I was in no mood to rewrite it. That is my excuse for the updatelessness, and I’m sticking to it. Besides, I didn’t really have much to say. Just a little making fun of the Europeans for their absolutely insane Eurovision competition. Think American Idol, but with countries voting against each other and displaying some of the weirdest ideas of what constitutes entertainment ever. Go check out Kim’s post at francophoney.net to see what I mean.
If you still crave more Eurovision weirdness after that, I’ve listed a few highlights below that you might want to check out. See what happened when Belarus tried to cross Owen Wilson with David Copperfield! Or glimpse the Swedes’ attempt to revive 80’s glam rock (’cause you can never get too much Wham!-inspired music in this world?). And if you always wondered what would happen if Disney songwriters decided to write a techno tune about vampires, I suggest you check out this entry from the Swiss.
In other news, Celia and I went to a rat show today! That’s right, like a dog show, but with cute, curious, adorable, twitchy-whiskered little rats!!! And no, I did not come home with any new pets. Not that I actually displayed willpower of any sort, they just didn’t do adoptions at this show. :-( Anyway, it wasn’t super-exciting, but it was still really interesting to see how the rats were judged, and just to get a sense of how many different, beautiful varieties of rats there are out there. Yay for rats!!!
So here’s a random rat video. The little spaz rat who starts bouncing all over the place about halfway through the video is especially cute.
