    R. Batty @ 11:39 pm

So the comments have been few and far between these days… I know and I apologize. But I really have been studying fairly diligently for my comps. And studying, as you may have guessed, does not make for good blogging material. However, to reward ye faithful readers for your patience in this blogging drought, I’ll make you a deal: I’ve decided that if/when I pass my comps, I’m going to dye my hair some crazy color. I’ve threatened to do this for years, but fear of bleaching my hair combined with a more general fear of putitng my weirdness out there for all the world to see has stopped me. No more! If I pass my comps, I will know that I am invicicible and therefore totally able to sport a funky hair color, at least for a month or two. Although passing my comps would be a hell of a lot easier if I could get *someone* to agree to a date! Sorry, that’s another story altogether.

Okay, so I can hear you dear readers asking, “so what Batty? You’re going to dye your hair like a freak–what’s in it for us?” Well, relax oh impatient ones. There *is* something in it for you.

You’re going to pick the color :-)

Mind you, I’m going to give you some choices, but you guys make the final call. Most votes wins. You’ve got about a month to cast your ballots via the comments. If you don’t see your comment post right away, relax. I’ve had to do some pretty stringent policingto keep out the comment spam, but I’ll make sure all legitimate votes get approved.

    Your choices are:

    AfterMidnight Blue/Shocking Blue

    Infra Red/Pillarbox Red

    Purple Haze

    Electric Lizard

Personally, I favor the blue, you know, in case you want to base your vote on what I like rather than trying to decide which one would make me look freakiest. Although I can’t imagine why you’d want to do that ;-)

    1. :D

I say purple– that one would look best on you, I think. If you really want blue, I could be persuaded to change my vote, but I worry about that color with your skin. Though electric lizard would match your shoes….

      Purple. I vote purple.

    2. Yeah, I vote purple too…it’s the color of royalty, madness & Grimace: how can you argue w/ that lineage?…can you get a better purple picture, though? That guy looks like a tool…

    3. As someone with a LOT of experience in this category, I do feel the need to warn you that the blue will most likely fade the most quickly. A hairstylist once informed me that this is because the color molecules are the largest, but whatever the reason, it does fade quickly.

The green would require the most successful bleaching job of the four. I think this is the reason for which I only did green once.

I vote blue because I know you’re heart’s set on it, but I kinda dig the red. Although I would have totally gotten on board with a fluo orange. Orange is awesome.

    4. Orange…now there’s something to think about…you could do 1/2 orange & 1/2 black & be a Cruella DeVille-like embodiment of Halloween…or maybe you should save that for when it’s closer: I wonder if anyone’s gone as the actual holiday before…

    5. Testing?

      Comment by Jason Emery — February 2, 2007 @ 11:41 am

    6. Hey Jason, sorry about the delay in approving your comments. I get a lot of comment spam so sometimes it takes a while for the non-regular posters to get approved. But the comments go through, honest!

And yes, I realize that the blue and green present difficulties. Honestly, I’m not especially concerned about the longevity for this particular job, hence my willingness to risk the potentially difficult blue. And frankly, I don’t think most people will vote for the green… I like green and all, but when it comes to hair color, there aren’t many good shades of green to be had. So I mostly included the green so that people would feel like I was presenting a fair number of options. That having been said, I am not currently accepting write-ins, so you orange faction weirdos can just deal ;-)

But honestly, I’m down with the purple, blue, and red. And who knows, maybe the experience will be so much fun, I’ll do it again with a different color. Yeeaaah, we’ll see…

Okay, so far PURPLE is in the lead. Will it last?! Once I get my exam date set, I’ll set a date to close the voting so that I have enough time to acquire said bleaching kit and hair dye. Till then, the polls are still open!

    8. I think the blue would suit you best, so I vote for ‘electric lizard’ (based solely on the name), since I want to draw stares when we go for take-out…

    9. And why is the text centered? That’s annoying (I’m using IE on school computers).

    10. Purple purple purple.
I agree with Celia. Blue might be a wash with your delicate skin tone.

Although I am quite partial to the red. But even though the color exhibited is not found in nature, red-heads do exist in varying capacities. Purple? Not so much.
